Simon Miller

Managing Director

Simon Miller is Managing Director and one of the co-Founders of 3Keel, starting the business in 2013. He has worked in the sustainability sector since 2004, after completing his MSc Environmental Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh, which is also where he grew up.

Simon’s technical background is in GHG accounting and reduction modelling, having been involved in some of the first full Scope 3 assessments in the UK back in the mid 2000s. Over time, his focus has developed into broader sustainability issues for consumer goods and agricultural supply chains, and he has worked extensively with global brands including PepsiCo and Nestle, and the UK’s grocery retailers including Tesco and M&S.

Simon was appointed General Manager of the Cool Farm Alliance from 2015 to 2018, where he helped to shore up the organisation, significantly expand its membership and enable rapid evolution of the Cool Farm Tool. That role helped to develop his experience and expertise in convening stakeholders around collaborative programmes, which are skills he continues to elsewhere including for clients such as WRAP and the British Retail Consortium.

Simon understands grocery supply chains and has significant experience of strategy development, interpreting metrics, and communicating concepts to non-technical audiences. He is happiest when getting stuck into a knotty problem, clutching marker pen in hand to develop ideas with those around him.

With the growth of 3Keel, Simon now spends more of his time shaping the organisation, in terms of the 3Keel community of staff and how we should be evolving our service offerings across the organisation. As more technical colleagues with deeper expertise join the business, Simon has the luxury of bringing the multiple threads together to maximise our effectiveness, with a focus on how best to amplify the impacts of 3Keel’s work.
