With the official launch of the SBTi Net-Zero Corporate Standard V2.0, the goalposts for credible climate action have moved. While Version 1 focused on the mechanics of target-setting, Version 2.0 demands a more holistic integration of climate action into business strategy including introducing mandatory transition plans, new flexibility in Scope 3 target setting, and a framework for taking responsibility for ongoing emissions.

About our speakers

Richard SheaneCo-Founder

Richard is a Founding Director of 3Keel and plays a central role in shaping the company’s technical strategy, methods and delivery standards. With nearly two decades of experience in sustainability consulting, he specialises in greenhouse gas accounting – particularly emissions and removals from land use, agriculture and food supply chains.

Richard leads 3Keel’s work on complex Scope 3 GHG inventories, with a strong focus on helping clients in the retail and FMCG sectors navigate the risks and opportunities of decarbonisation. He has worked with Tesco, Co-op, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis Partnership, and innocent Drinks, as well as institutional landowners such as the Church Commissioners, National Trust and Environment Agency. Richard has had technical appointments over his career including as Technical Working Group member of the GHG Protocol Standards and LEAF Marque. He is a contributing author to WRAP’s Scope 3 GHG Measurement and Reporting Protocol and was a founding member of the Carbon Accounting Alliance.

He holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and began his career as a farm conservation adviser before moving into corporate consultancy. His background in professional writing helps him communicate complex issues with clarity and impact.

Olwen SmithPrincipal Consultant, Client Lead

Olwen leads 3Keel’s core climate change delivery team within our Climate, Nature and Resources Business Unit. She combines expertise in GHG measurement, decarbonisation and climate risk with the strategic and commercial insights required to support corporate decision making. Skilled at helping clients cut through the noise, Olwen provides targeted insights that drive meaningful climate action. She has delivered projects for large UK sector associations including the BRC, British Beer and Pub Association and Federation of Wholesale Distributors, and also leads 3Keel’s work with major FMCG clients.

Prior to joining 3Keel, Olwen worked at CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) and the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), latterly as Global Lead for Transition Accelerator. Her work involved advising listed companies on alignment with frameworks such as the SBTi, SBTN, TCFD and the Transition Plan Taskforce.

Emilien HoetStrategy Director

Emilien is Strategy Director at Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs), a programme that funds regenerative agriculture at scale, developed by sustainability consultancy, 3Keel.

He is also a co-founder of the Carbon Accounting Alliance, a non-profit with over 750 members in 60 countries, where he brings urgency and collaboration to solve the climate crisis.

Previously, he has held leadership and commercial positions across carbon emissions management, supply chain transparency and tech start-ups.

He was most recently the UK MD for ClimatePartner (advisory & solution provider), where he grew the business 10x in 4 years to become a major player in the climate space. He started his career in venture capital at Crowdcube (investment crowdfunding platform, backed by Balderton Capital, Numis and DFJ).

He holds a BSc Financial Economics at City St George’s, University of London and a Business Sustainability Management certificate from University of Cambridge. He is passionate about rewilding, food and community.
